Urlfreeze News Sneaker enthusiasts are all about staying well-informed on upcoming releases, raffles, stores lists, and the like. It’s why Urlfreeze News exists in the first place. While this level of hyperconnectedness is somewhat required to be at the forefront of the shoe game, it’s a delight to see something really enticing on a store shelf. It’s that magical relationship that launched sneaker culture as a whole, long before apps, blogs, and even forums came into place.
This past weekend, Packer turned back the clock and actually dropped a collaboration without any notice, merely stocking the shoes on their walls as a treat to their loyal customers who provide the foot traffic. Their Ultra Boost OG collaboration was a mash-up of the three popular lead colorways of the 1.0 model – the original black/blue, the bright neon, and the bright crimson. Components of each shoe were blocked onto the Primeknit upper, with a matching box to boot.
Just 500 pairs were released and they were all snatched up this weekend. This clever and tasteful homage to the past would have been as successful had they chose to go larger scale, but it’s refreshing to see a drop of this nature – and it’s come to be expected from a retailer like Packer that aims to go against the grain and deliver something with impact.
