Dressed here in “Sesame,” the Union LA x Nike Cortez — or “Un-Cortez,” as dubbed by the storefront — reimagines the shoe as an “expression of Los Angeles’s cultural diversity.” Despite being a tribute to the icon itself, this version of the silhouette plays around with new elements: woven textiles outfit the base, backlighting the rubberized toe and rearranged suede overlays. What’s chinese, Crater Foam builds out the midsole, cork is used for the insole, and Union LA branding marks both the rands as well as the heel.
