Some swift changes are coming to the Nike’s sizing ranges for anyone size 7Y and under, and it could cause your child’s size to raise in price.
According to an internal document shared by @horhead_sales on X, Nike is shifting their kids sizing ranges for their three categories — Big Kids, Little Kids, Toddler — in an effort to reduce confusion for consumers. However, this change has forced the upper range of smaller sizing into a bigger one, which may potentially raise prices of certain sizes significantly.
Based on the document above, Bigs Kids, Little Kids, and Toddler are being officially renamed to Grade-School, Pre-School, and Toddler, respectively. However sizes 1Y-3Y were previously part of the Little Kids size category, but are now grouped under Grade School. Similarly, sizes 8C-10C were once under the Toddler category, but are now grouped under Pre-School.
This may affect those who were once size 1Y-3Y or 8C-10C, as the price difference between the kids sizing categories can be drastic. For example, the upcoming Jordan 4 “Military Blue” is priced at $160 for Big Kids, $100 for Little Kids, and $85 for Toddler, which means your child’s size could suddenly spike in price for future Jordan Retro and other Nike shoe releases.
It is not clear if a new pricing structure exists within these new Bigs and Littles shoe size categories; Nike could employ a sliding scale pricing, but that seems unlikely. It is also not clear when these new sizing categories will come into play, but this document was shared in December 2023.
