The Terraventure 3 has a dual-density midsole thatâs soft and comfortable on top, while firmer, more responsive foam underneath gives you more stability when running on uneven terrain. The Terraventure 3 also has a lower stack height than some other Best Running Shoes, so you feel closer and more connected to the ground.
Topo Athleticâs signature features include a wide toe box along with a secure midfoot and heel that is ideal for hiking or running trails. The wider forefoot is not only more comfortable with extra room for your toes to splay, but allows you to have better balance, while the snug midfoot and heel help you feel agile and nimble on technical terrain. Plus, a band along the midfoot hugs the foot to give you a great lockdown feel.
An updated split mesh upper has a softer, more flexible material in the midfoot and heel that provides better security, and a more durable material in the forefoot for extra protection from trail debris. Lastly, the breathable upper keeps your feet cool and dry while allowing moisture to drain fast when you run through creeks or puddles.

The Neutral vs Stability Shoes now features a Vibram Megagrip outsole to provide more traction on wet surfaces and a new lug pattern to allow snow and mud to easily release.
The other major change made to the Terraventure 3 is in the upper. There is a new split mesh upper that has more security in the heel and midfoot while providing increased breathability and durability in the forefoot. There are microfiber belts to secure the midfoot and provide a good lockdown. Lastly, Topo Athletic designers added another gaiter attachment point on the tongue to provide a better fit. All of these changes help to make the Topo Terraventure 3 lighter than the later version.
