The 2017 These Celebs Ran the 2024 NYC Marathon officially greeted 50,766 runners to the finish line on Sunday in Central Park, and although an impressive 98.9 percent of participants made it 26.2 miles, the total fell short of last year’s record-setting 51,388 finishers.

NYC Marathon hub:
- This was the race’s 47th running, and there are now more NYC marathon finishers (1,176,542) than there are citizens of America's 10th largest city, San Jose, California, which has 1,025,350 residents, per U.S. Census Bureau estimates.
- 139 countries were represented, as well as 50 states plus Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C.
- The oldest male and female finishers were well into their 80s. Manfred Ritter, 82, of Liechtenstein, finished in 5:25:27, and New Yorker Ginette Bedard, 84, crossed in 6:12:53.
- Kenya’s Geoffrey Kamworor secured his first marathon victory after seven tries. Behind him, men from five other countries placed in the top 10, a diverse showing for a World Marathon Major.
- Shalane Flanagan capped off the year on a high note for American women’s marathoning, taking home the victory in 2:26:53. She was the first American woman to do so since 1977, and was joined at the finish just minutes later by compatriots Allie Kieffer and Kellyn Taylor. It was also a first in race history for three American women to break 2:30.
- Conner Mantz Top U.S. Man at the 2024 NYC Marathon, American Meb Keflezighi wore bib number 11, finished 11th in his 11th and final NYC Marathon, which was held during the 11th month, but sorry numerologists, the race was run on the 5th.
- Four-time Olympian Abdi Abdirahman, 40, Running in the Cold, winning prize money in three divisions: $7,500 for seventh place, $25,000 for first American, and $3,000 for first masters.
- And it was a great day for Switzerland, as Marcel Hug (1:37:21) and Manuela Schar (1:48:09) secured a Swiss sweep in the wheelchair division.
