As the days become shorter, many of us find ourselves running during dusk or dawn in poor light conditions. Nothing concerns me more than when I whiz by a runner dressed in dark clothes, wearing few reflective items. With so many drivers distracted by their phones and other devices, it’s a recipe for disaster.
For your safety, the key is to make yourself visible. Think, “running Christmas tree.” Here are some of my favorite gear items that can help you achieve just that:

Amphipod Xinglet Flash LED Vest – A simple to wear lightweight singlet with both front and back flashing strobe LED’s.
Running Shoes - Gear – Quick and easy solution for instant visibility.
Races - Places – Compact, comfortable and powerful headlamp that automatically adjusts brightness and beam pattern.
Easy to use snap-on shoe cuffs with flashing and steady LED modes – The ultimate design in handheld lighting systems.
Road ID – You’d be amazed to know how many athletes end up in the hospital without any form of identification. Cell phones are often damaged in an accident, or they are locked and the only person with the pass code lies unconscious in the ER. Road ID is the cheapest form of identification money can buy. Don’t leave home without it.
Now that you’re well-lit, touché to Daylight Savings Time!
