The Right Bra For: Runners who need support for up to a J-cup

For the runner who has wished for a custom-made sports bra, Shefit founder Sara Marie Moylan has an answer. After years of dealing with ill-fitting bras as a collegiate athlete and professional fitness competitor, Moylan decided to invent her own. The result? A fully-customizable, high-support bra that wowed judges on the hit show Shark Tank back in 2016, and pleases larger-cup-size runners today.

How the Shefit Works

Shefit bras provide custom support for B-cups to J-cups and every size in between, which is done in part through the company's personalized sizing system. After plugging your measurements into its size chart, you'll get a recommendation for a size from XSmall to 6Luxe. From there, nearly every inch of the bra is customizable—all to your personal preference. You can cinch the inch-wide shoulder straps for more or less support, criss-cross them for an X-back design, or leave them straight for a traditional fit. Plus, the bottom ribcage band allows for eight inches of adjustment to dial in just the right amount of snugness. All that’s left is a quick tug on the Shefit’s magnetic locking zipper, and it’s run time.

Style and Comfort in the Shefit

The Shefit Ultimate is constructed from a moisture-wicking, reinforced mesh that adds yet another layer of support. The material is slightly compressive and very resilient, which eliminates the need for underwire support and banishes both bounce and sweat. Plus, the cups are fully-lined and contoured for a flattering shape—providing ample coverage if you want to forgo the bra’s removable pads. Right now, you can grab the Shefit in white and black, but the limited-edition Lagoon, Mystic, and Shero colors will only hang around for a short time.

Test Impressions

Our wear-testers gave the Shefit Ultimate two thumbs way up for support, reporting that they felt fully secure and completely bounce-free on their runs. However, one tester mentioned that she would save the Shefit for shorter runs only, since the bra could rub slightly in some areas after extended wear. “During my run, the edges of the bottom band and zipper dug in a bit, leaving some redness,” the tester said. “But the bra nailed overall support—I had no bounce and no slippage.”
