Title Nine touts the Henerala as the top for the “modern woman warrior who slays all day.” And they’re not wrong. I was skeptical about a top that could stay relatively fresh after multiple uses—and I mean workouts, not just everyday-wear to the office—but the Henerala delivers.
I put this shirt through an early morning treadmill session, an afternoon hike, and chilly bike ride. The one downside I noticed when I wore the shirt to run indoors was that since the material is so thick, at some points, I felt warmer than I would’ve liked. The opposite was true when I wore this top for my hike and on my ride.
I wore it for each of these workouts completely unwashed from the previous activity and rounded out my testing by wearing it to go grocery shopping. I loved that it didn’t outright stink while I was loading up my cart—but it most definitely wasn’t the freshest piece of clothing I was wearing.
Surprisingly, the shirt really didn’t get to the point where it smelled gross—even the underarm area stayed relatively fresh. I only noticed a little bit of funk when I wore it on my grocery outing—something I was surprised by, considering it had previously been through very sweaty workouts. If stinky gear has always been a problem for you, this shirt will make a huge difference.
“StinkStopping” Power
The Henerala is made of Matahari, an optimal poly/spandex blend offering some stretch but not so much that the shirt loses shape. Matahari is easy to maintain and washes well with other garments but takes a while to dry. This is likely due to the fact that the fabric is on the heavier side. I especially loved that the Matahari fabric offers UPF 35 protection and supreme sweat-wicking.
The 8 Best Headlamps for Runners odor-repelling StinkStopper technology actually works. For someone who gets absolutely drenched during hard workouts, this feature is a game-changer, especially if you’re the kind of person who spends a long time at the gym and hates the feeling of walking around with a wet top that reeks of sweaty B.O.
Overall Impression: Not Just a Running Top
The Henerala fits true to size—for the most part. If I could change one thing about this top, it would be the short sleeves, which sat three inches above my wrists.
But this sleeve preference is really just a pet-peeve because I love everything about Title Nine’s Henerala top, especially how versatile it is in terms of wear. You can dress the Henerala up or down and it looks great either way. Prepping for an intense gym sesh? The Henerala can handle it. Need something to wear under a blazer? The Henerala will look fabulous paired with one—I can personally vouch for this as I wore the top with a blazer for a recent dinner outing.
I know that $59 is a lot to spend on a top, but when you consider how many uses you’ll get out of this shirt (and that it’s not just a piece of gym wear), the price point becomes less about money frivolously spent and more about an investment made in a garment that will wear well and last through every season—and occasion—for many seasons to come.
