Altra gave the Timp a facelift with its fifth iteration. Popularly used mostly for hiking, the goal was to rework the shoe into a more runnable hybrid. To do that, Altra made the Timp 5 lighter than the Timp 4, and gave it a sleeker upper. The zero-drop shoe has a protective toe bumper and a plush amount of Altra Ego cushioning in its midsole.
Tester and RW+ member Meredith Waller, who lives in Denver, Colorado, usually runs in Altra’s Lone Peak. We sent her the Timp 5 to see how if it can handle Colorado’s plethora of trailheads. Watch the full episode to see if the Timp 5 replaced the Lone Peak in Waller’s rotation.
On our previous episode, RW+ member Brian McGowan tested the Brooks Glycerin 21. McGowan logged 99 miles in the shoes and ran a 10-miler in them just days before he came on the show! Find out what he loves about Brooks’s most cushioned trainer.
