Update 7/17/24: Since we published, the deals have mostly held steady—discounts are the same, and stock is looking resilient for most models. Two exceptions: Garmin’s Forerunner 255S is now out of stock online, and the Fēnix 7S is in extremely short supply. We’ve removed the former from our roundup, but kept the latter listed so you can potentially snag one of the remaining watches in stock. And the current reader-favorite Other Hearst Subscriptions (without the S) is still in stock, though there aren’t a ton left.

This sale started up yesterday (it runs through today, July 17), and we’ve spotted some deals that are worth checking out right on the tail end. These discounts range from some of Garmin’s most affordable health trackers, such as the Vivosmart 4, to the brand’s top-tier watches like the Health & Injuries. And we’ve had all the model families here on our wrists, for testing or in our casual running. We’re confident in the capability of the watches—and the worthiness of the discounts—we’re recommending.

Other Hearst Subscriptions Running Watch
The Forerunner 265, this watch’s younger sibling, presented an interesting case for our test team. It’s a clear improvement in display quality from the 255; however, the 255 has a noticeably longer battery life, and it still has most of the 265’s best features.
So we still recommend this watch over that newer one. The 255 can track runs super accurately thanks to its multi-band GPS, which pings multiple satellites to smooth out errant coordinate readings. Additionally, it has a barometric altimeter for accurate elevation readings. And the best part? You can save more than $70 on it right now (the level of discount will depend on which color you choose) as Garmin phases it out for the 255.
The Fēnix, which is $100 off this Prime Day, is Garmin’s creme de la creme, the culmination of all its tech packaged inside one watch. It has some of the smoothest, most accurate GPS readings our testers have ever encountered, and it’s packed full of sensors to track blood oxygen, elevation, HRV, and more.
Better yet, its battery can last over a month in smartwatch mode. And during our testing, we found that some of the strongest highlights of this watches utility were built-in tools like a flashlight. In other words, this watch was a surprisingly convenient all-day wear option, and we think that further justifies its (now discounted) price.
Looking for something a bit sleeker to track your sleep, steps, and heart rate throughout the day? While the Vivosmart may not have its own GPS to log your location, it’s a compact fitness-tracking companion that can pair with your phone and give you live updates about your health stats through Garmin’s companion app, Garmin Connect.
Former deputy editor Zoë Hannah loves her Vivosmart for its minimalistic display that keeps her wrist uncluttered. It shows her little more than the time, her steps, and her heart rate. Additionally, she appreciated that she didn’t have to break the bank to sport a Garmin—even without its current $33 discount, this watch is one of the most affordable in the brand’s lineup.
Garmin Instinct 2 GPS Smartwatch
Few watches are as burly as the Instinct. Thanks to its thick, fiber-reinforced case surrounding the face, it’s a great option for rugged adventurers who like to play among rocks and roots. It’s more scratch- and crack-resistant than most of Garmin’s other watches, it can function 100 meters underwater, and it can stand up to some degree of thermal and shock damage. Meanwhile, it has similar smartwatch functionality to a Forerunner, and it’s over $70 off during Prime Day. (As with some of these other watches though, be sure to check the color you’re shopping for, as not all are discounted.)
Looking for a brighter, more legible display than the Forerunner 255? If you’re willing to lose a few days of battery life, you’ll find a good match for your needs in the 265S. It’s up to $70 off in select colors right now—”whitestone and neo tropic” is the most steeply discounted color at the time of this update.
The 265S, much like the 255S linked elsewhere in this roundup, is the smaller sibling to the main model. In this case, that means a 4-millimeter size reduction, which is just enough to feel more comfortable for small wrists without feeling too small to read. Better yet, because this watch has an AMOLED display, it’s far more legible at a glance than the 255, which does require some squinting on bright days.
Just like the Forerunner 255, the Fēnix 7X has a display that might be a little too large for your needs. This 7S doesn’t have the 7X’s solar-charging capabilities, but it has the same biometric sensors and top-shelf GPS accuracy. On top of all that, it’s getting a discount of more than $100 for Prime Day, making it one of the best ways we’ve found to cut the price of one of Garmin’s most expensive watches.
