Why have track fans waited so eagerly for Huddle’s foray into the 26.2-mile distance?

Kastor has the American record in the marathon, set in 2006. Flanagan has the second-fastest time, run in 2014. At the half-marathon distance, the edge also goes to Kastor, with Huddle second. On the track, Huddle has been fastest of the three at 5,000 and 10,000 meters.
