On June 27, an unexpected creature joined a group of runners as they made their way down Williams Gap Road in Round Hill, Virginia. The group, believed to be a cross-country team, saw a goat was following them.
Officers from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Department arrived at the scene and apprehended the goat, who was later identified as Muffy. She was placed in the back seat of a squad car and taken to the Loudoun County Animal Services. The arresting animal control officer said Muffy was friendly, fully cooperative, and easy to handle.
“We don’t get many goats brought in,” said Nicole Falceto, Community Relations Manager at Loudoun County Animal Services. “Once she was here, we put out a ‘found goat’ notice.”
It worked. Muffy was released and reunited with her family the next day. No word yet on if she has a future in running.
