The 15 Best Treadmills for Every Type of Runner postponed until September, runners can still simulate that iconic race day experience this month from their treadmills. On April 15, the workout streaming platform iFit, which can be accessed on a NordicTrack or Proform treadmill, launched a Boston Marathon workout series that allows runners to traverse the entire 26.2-mile course.

Throughout the race, Paulson, who was holding a pace of 9:31 to 9:50 per mile (about 6.1 to 6.2 mph on the treadmill), turned back to the camera to give real-time tips for race strategy and running form.

Now, runners can stream the race in five parts—or, if you’re brave, all at once—at their own pace from the comforts of their iFit-enabled treadmills. If you don’t have the appropriate treadmill, you can still participate by downloading the iFit app in the Apple Store or on Google Play. Sign up for the 30-day free trial, prop up your smartphone on the ’mill, and follow along.

If you do have an iFit-enabled treadmill, it will automatically adjust the incline to match Boston’s course elevation—so when you hit Heartbreak Hill, the grade ramps up. If you’re using the app on a different treadmill, you’ll have to manually increase or decrease the incline on your own.

Health - Injuries Controversy Over Boston’s 6-Hour Results Cutoff is that it allows everyone—Boston qualifiers or otherwise—to run on the famous course, at least virtually.

Plus, running the course now via treadmill will make you even more prepared for—and appreciative of—the real Boston Marathon.
