Herron says it had been a few years since she’d raced in Texas, and she decided to do the race on a whim. She posted on Instagram Camille Herrons Secrets to Ultrarunning Success Shoes & Gear at the end of the month, where she hopes to improve on last year’s eighth-place finish.

The world-record-holding runner ran gradually positive splits on the 6.55-mile course loop, in 53:23, 56:25, 58:59, and closing in 1:00:59.
