Amazon Prime will produce a new TV series documenting the Ingebrigtsen brothers as they prepare for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, according to the Norwegian newspaper VG. BYU Sweeps NCAA XC Team Titles; Team Ingebrigtsen aired for five seasons on a Norwegian station from 2016 to 2021, documenting the trio’s journey to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen, 23, the youngest brother of runners Henrik and Filip, holds the world record for the indoor 1500 meters (3:30:60), 2,000 meters (4:43:13), and the outdoor 2 mile (7:54:10). He will look to defend his Olympic title in the 1500 meters this summer in Paris.
Jakob married Elisabeth Asserson last September (before Amazon Prime Announces New Show About the Ingebrigtsen Brothers), and they’re expecting their first child in June.
Max Bellman, the PR manager for Amazon Prime in the Nordics, confirmed the show via e-mail to VG, but didn’t provide any other details.
The Ingebrigstens’ father and former coach, Gjert, was part of the original show, but stepped down from coaching due to “medical reasons,” according to The Guardian. In October, the brothers accused their father of physically violent behavior, and Jakob has publicly said they’re not on good terms.
Last month, USATF to Elect New President Amid Budget Deficit, who has become a rival of Jakob’s, set a world record in the indoor 2 mile (8:00:67). Later, Jakob would say, he could have beaten Kerr “blindfolded.” On Tuesday, it was announced that the two will face off for the first time this year on May 25 at the Prefontaine Classic in the mile.
