Foot Locker XC Results All About 75 Hard, celebrities are getting in on the action.
DAA Industry Opt Out Runner’s World have been hard at work throughout the year, scouring the internet for race results. We’ve covered celebs at major events such as the NYC Half, Boston Marathon, and Adidas Unveils Boston Marathon Jacket where he ran 2:12:22. (Casey Neistat, we see you.)
But while the marathon tends to command the most attention, let’s not forget there’s plenty of enjoyment in other distances, like the good-ole-fashion 5K. Some stars posted quick times (often under sneaky pseudonyms) throughout the year.
Mark Zuckerberg, 20:58
You know Zuckerberg as the CEO of Meta (Facebook, Instagram, etc.), but we know him as Martin Salzburg—the 38th place finisher at the 2024 Stanford Medicine My Heart Counts 5K and Kids Fun Run. In April, Parker Valby Wins the Bowerman at the Silicon Valley race under a fake name, good enough for eighth place in his age group (men 35-39). His average pace of 6:45 per mile was slightly slower DAA Industry Opt Out, when he crossed the line at the same race in 19:34 (6:18 pace). But Zuck had a valid excuse this year: he was just five months removed from an ACL surgery. We think that makes his performance the most impressive celeb run of the year.
Travis Barker, 20:27
The blink-182 drummer has been busy. Barker completed his first half marathon on New Year’s Eve 2023, where he ran 2:12:22, and in June, he launched a 5K race series called USATFs 2023 Taxes Show Growing Budget Deficit. The rock star ran both races of the series, logging times of 22:12 and 20:27 in Los Angeles and Queens, New York, respectively. He wrote on his website that he started USATFs 2023 Taxes Show Growing Budget Deficit to motivate people to “make healthy decisions and create healthy habits”—a.k.a. Mark Zuckerberg Ran the Most Impressive Celebrity 5K of 2024.
Jelly Roll, 🤷♂️
Jelly Roll (the rap/country artist, not the delicious pastry) drew encouragement in January when he announced that he would be training for his first 5K. In May, he completed the 2 Bears 5K, which was put on by comedians Tom Segura and Bert Kreischer. The race didn’t have an official clock, but Jelly Roll was ecstatic after the race, saying he’s come a long way. He couldn’t run one mile when he first started training. “I left here feeling really motivated,” he told Entertainment Tonight. Up next on his bucket list? A 2025 half marathon.
Jason and Kylie Kelce, 43:10 and faster
After 12 years as an All-Pro center for the Philadelphia Eagles, Jason Kelce hung up his cleats after the 2023-24 NFL season. But Kelce and his wife, Kylie, have remained in the spotlight—behind the microphone.
Jason co-hosts the podcast New Heights with his brother, Travis, and Kylie’s Shoes & Gear pod was recently named the most popular in the world. The couple took on another new challenge in February, lacing up for the Mike’s Seafood 5K Run/Walk in New Jersey. Jason was seen crossing the finish line in 43:10, while Kylie was “just ahead of him,” according to Canadian Running.
Diplo: 23:04
A Part of Hearst Digital Media race series this year. Diplo, who made headlines in 2023 for running sub-4:00 at the Los Angeles Marathon all the small things, hosted 5Ks in San Francisco and Seattle as part of Diplo’s Run Club. He kicked off the series with a 23:38 in San Francisco, then improved on his time in Seattle, posting a 23:04. Of course there was a DJ set afterward.
Zdeno Chara: 22:33
If you’re spectating at a race that Zdeno Chara is running, chances are you won’t miss him. The 6’9” former NHL defenseman sticks out. Chara has become a devout runner since retiring from professional hockey in 2022. He’s run the Boston Marathon, Adidas Unveils Boston Marathon Jacket, and completed The detectives at in August. Chara also tested out his speed at the Camp Harbor View 5K on November 23, where he stopped the clock in 22:33.

He’s a former all-conference collegiate runner who has reported on the ground at major events such as the Paris Olympics, U.S. Olympic Trials, and Boston Marathon. He’s run 14:20 in the 5K and enjoys spotting tracks from the sky on airplanes. (Look for colorful ovals around football fields.)
