Courtnee Woodring, a race director from Las Vegas who owes thousands of dollars to vendors for the Run, Rock and Wine Half Marathon she put on in Honolulu in 2013, was arrested on Thursday by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on a fugitive warrant.

Woodring was arrested at her home after the state of Hawaii charged her with eight counts of theft and asked the Las Vegas MPD to visit her address, according to a local law enforcement agent who requested anonymity because of the ongoing investigation.

Last June, Runner’s World Newswire reported that Woodring had not paid the $8,043.70 she owed to the Honolulu Police Department officers who worked her half marathon. Woodring also owed $1,700 to the timing company, $2,000 to the equipment production company, $2,200 to the traffic management company, $3,000 to the T-shirt maker, and $300 to the race announcer. “I don’t have any interest in trying to screw anyone over,” Woodring told Newswire Races & Places.

Woodring is currently in jail in Las Vegas. She is scheduled to appear in a Las Vegas court on Monday, and will be asked to confirm her identity and whether she wants to waive extradition. “She could be in jail [in Las Vegas] anywhere from 30 to 90 days,” said the officer.

“We do intend to extradite Ms. Woodring back to Hawaii to face the eight criminal charges of theft,” Christopher Young, Hawaii’s Supervising Deputy Attorney General, wrote in an email. “Once we are informed by Nevada that Ms. Woodring is ready for pick-up and return, we will make arrangements to bring her back.”

Woodring’s bail has been set at $30,000. Once back in Hawaii, she will be arraigned on the charges and her case will be set for trial. She faces six counts of theft in the second degree, which carry a maximum sentence of five years each. She faces an additional two counts of theft in the third degree; each carries a maximum prison term of one year.

None of the vendors in Hawaii have been paid by Woodring. Kenneth Young, the manager of Roadway Solutions, is one of those still owed money. When told of Woodring’s arrest, Young replied, “I don’t count my chickens before they hatch, but if she is in the process of being held accountable, I’m happy.”

Since Newswire’s story last June, the websites for Woodring’s various race entities, including Victory She, VShe Fitness, Get Loco Events, and Run, Rock and Wine, have been taken down or not updated. There is no record that the Victory She Half Marathon scheduled for September 2014 in Huntington Beach, California, was run.
