Dennis Kimetto of Kenya became the first person to break 2:03 in the marathon and took 26 seconds off the previous world record, set by Wilson Kipsang at Berlin last year. "I'm so happy to break the record," Kimetto said. "I knew coming here I could do it. ... There will be a big celebration back home after this."

Tsegaye won in 2:20:18, but said it wasn't easy. "The race was very tough from the beginning," she said. "Every kilometer was fast. I thought I could run under 2:20 up until 39K, but the last part was difficult. I was really tired."
