Runner’s World Review

The Nimbus is a classic cushioned shoe. This update is slightly softer, for runners looking for a little more room in the forefoot and the same luxurious ride.

The Nimbus, after 20 iterations, is still a quintessential “cushioned” shoe and our wear-testers agree. In this update, the midsole of the shoe is the same, but it tested very slightly softer, so you can expect a similar, plush ride.

A new mesh material around the foot makes the shoe breathable to prevent your shoes feeling like a hot box.

Asics also adjusted the way they attached the upper to the sole, which results a slightly roomier forefoot fit.

We put each shoe through real-world usage and a battery of mechanical tests in our lab to provide you with objective — and exclusive — data. In addition to a shoe's weight, we measure sole thickness (everything that sits between your foot and the road), how well the foam cushions your stride, and the flexibility of the forefoot. All this is taken into account in our reviews of each shoe.
