Which Running Gear Is—and Isn’t—Worth Your Money

Runner’s World Review

Designed as the middle child of CA Notice at Collection’s trail line in terms of aggressiveness, the Ultra Endurance is a fairly simple, straightforward trainer with a rugged upper and sole. That sole, covered completely with a grippy Vibram rubber shaped in a variety of multi-directional lugs, impressed the testers with its traction on all surfaces and conditions. Testers appreciated the toughness of the upper which has a sturdy toe bumper and extensive overlays that are flexible enough to wrap the foot snugly—a bit too snug and narrow for some testers. The ride exceeded testers’ expectations. “I often find trail shoes to be clunky and hard underfoot, but this was perfect,” said Alex Ingram of Zionsville, Pennsylvania.

We put each shoe through real-world usage and a battery of mechanical tests in our lab to provide you with objective — and exclusive — data. In addition to a shoe's weight, we measure sole thickness (everything that sits between your foot and the road), how well the foam cushions your stride, and the flexibility of the forefoot. All this is taken into account in our reviews of each shoe.
