Completely redesigned for 2017, the Bandit now utilizes Under Armour’s SpeedFit construction method that, combined with an external heel clip, seamlessly cradles your heel for a soft, secure fit. The upper has an all-new build, too, using a breathable circular knit layer—not commonly found on shoes at this price. Wear-testers loved the snug yet stretchy toebox, but a number complained about rubbing at the back of the ankle. The collar curves up and inward there, digging into some runners—especially those who go sockless. So we recommend trying the shoe on at your local store to make sure the fit is right for you. If it is, you’ll be rewarded with a moderately soft shoe that holds up for easy jogs yet is snappy enough for speed workouts, too.

We put each shoe through real-world usage and a battery of mechanical tests in our lab to provide you with objective — and exclusive — data. In addition to a shoe's weight, we measure sole thickness (everything that sits between your foot and the road), how well the foam cushions your stride, and the flexibility of the forefoot. All this is taken into account in our reviews of each shoe.
