Fashion and fitness have collided more than ever in recent years. It’s finally cool to rock up at brunch in your running kit and you don’t have to wear black lycra and baggy T shirts to go to the gym. Beyond Yoga is an American Brand that is about to launch in the UK. We got a sneak preview to test the kit ahead of this, and we were impressed. The kit is designed for yoga but would work well for general gym wear and the leggings for running.
The standout feature of the apparel was its softness. It all has a unique soft quality that feels like it’s good for your skin. The leggings were snug and supportive and hold their shape really well during any workout, made from a blend of Nylon, Polyester and Spandex, they have the right combination of snug and stretchy. They are incredibly comfortable and I was happy to wear them for the entire day after a yoga class without any discomfort. They are also great to run in as the mild compression that they offer gives them a reassuring feel and fit. The wide waistband also enhances their comfort as there is no pinching at the belly button when you move around.
The sports bra was extremely comfortable; both from it’s soft material and its fit. It's made of 90% Supplex which is extremely soft. I’m used to that whole sports bra palaver most women who do sports can relate to. You know jabbing yourself in the eye with your elbow as you try to wrestle a sweaty sports bra off your tired body; it’s a stressful business. But this has a lot of stretch so pops on and off comfortably. It’s also adjustable and supportive and extremely flattering – which I know isn’t essential but it is hard to come by. Again the material handles sweat well and is fast drying so you can continue to wear it after you workout.
Beyond Yoga also produce warmer sweaters or post-exercise pullovers which are far more appealing that your usual hoody. Again, the fabrics are all kind on the skin and extra soft to the touch.
