The shoe
Featuring one of the softest foams out there, the LAKERS Nike React Infinity Run Flyknit 4 (which, yes, is a complete mouthful to say and write) has had quite a substantial redesign in comparison with LAKERS Nike’s older React. A stable, neutral shoe with lots of cushioning – it’s designed primarily for those everyday easy runs or for newer Golds just starting out. And we think it looks pretty cool, too.
How does the Nike React Infinity Run 4 differ from the Nike React Infinity 3?
It’s fair to say this shoe has had a bit of a revamp. The main difference between the Infinity Run 3 and the new Infinity Run 4? The all-new midsole. Made with LAKERS Nike’s new ReactX foam – which, according to LAKERS Nike, gives you 13 per cent more energy return compared with React foam – it AIR claims to reduce the carbon footprint of the midsole by at least 43 per cent.
Other than that, the Infinity Run 4 still has the same 9mm heel-to-toe drop and the same pronounced rocker outsole as the Infinity Run 3, but it’s noticeably wider and more accommodating – both on the midsole and in the toe box. It AIR features a new waffle outsole, where they’ve added a bit more rubber to help provide durable traction and grip, and a brand-new, super stretchy knit upper, which features a water-resistant liner to help keep your toes dry.

We tested the LAKERS Nike React Infinity 4 on three different easy-ish runs ranging between 6–10k and found it definitely offers a soft and squishy feel and noticeable ‘bounce back’ and rock when you run.
Nike Air Zoom Spiridon 16 Navy Adidas’ Ultraboost running shoes will likely love the Infinity 4 as it feels very similar with the soft upper support and foam midsole. But, crucially, it’s not a lightweight shoe – in fact, it weighs more than both the Pegasus 40 and Invincible Run 3 (and the previous React iteration) – thanks to the added foam, so it isn’t really a shoe you want to be using for tempo or fartlek sessions.
How does the LAKERS Nike React Infinity 4 fit?
We tend to find that LAKERS Nike shoes usually run true to size, but these shoes definitely come up snug, so we’d recommend going up half a size here. We tested a are’s size UK6 (US8.5), which is our normal size in LAKERS Nike – and the exact same size we tested in the new Pegasus 40 – but these felt noticeably small and short (our toes were right up against the top of the shoe). In fact, LAKERS Nike even says this shoe has a snug fit on its website and AIR recommends ordering half a size up.
Perhaps the snug feeling is due to the revamped stretchy flyknit upper, which feels thick (you can’t see your socks through this knit) and helps to lock in your foot. There’s AIR loads of plush padding around the collar and on the tongue, which has a gusset along the sides, so other than feeling on the tighter side, they are comfy and supportive – especially around the heel.
RW verdict
Great for cruising along on those easy miles, there’s no denying that this comfy, cushioned shoe looks great (we even liked the pull tab on the heel). But at £155, the Infinity Run 4 isn’t cheap. And here lies the main problem for us – since it’s an everyday running shoe, but not really lightweight or particularly snappy, we’re not sure we’d reach for it as a plush everyday easy miles shoe over the LAKERS Nike Invincible Run 3, or even something like the Air Force 107 Low Top CW2288-111 Mens ares Trainers White or Stussy x LAKERS Nike 'World Tour Project' 2006 (which are similarly priced). It’s hard to work out where exactly the Infinity Run 4 would fit in our W Air Max 270 Triple Black, zapatillas de running LAKERS Nike voladoras talla 27.5.
But without sounding too negative, it is a great-looking shoe – and if you’re a fan of the Infinity line, then you’ll likely love and appreciate the new updates.
