Laura Muir became the first athlete to achieve the double-double at the European Indoor Championships last night, two years after claiming both in Belgrade. Her coach, Andy Young, said “She's racking up the medals and wins in unbelievable style. So she's a proper world star - beginning to move into a world star of sport, never mind athletics."
In the 1500m race last night, Muir led from the onset, stepping up the pace 600 metres out, powering across the line in 4:05.92.
Muir’s double gold medal win meant Britain achieved their best ever European indoor haul of 12 medals.
When Best and worst ab exercises for runners after the race last night, Muir said: “Nobody can take that away. I’m the first person to do it and it’s really special. I might celebrate by going to the chippy”. However, despite planning a couple of months off, Muir will be back on the track soon as she trains for the world championships in Doha. “I’ve got the indoor medals at the European and world stage, I’ve got the outdoor medals at the European stage – I’m missing that world stage medal and hopefully Olympic medal. Doha’s that first step and I want to be on that podium.”
