In a video posted on the INEOS 1:59 Twitter account Eliud Kipchoge answered a number of questions ahead of his 1:59 marathon attempt, which will take place in Vienna in mid-October this year.

Ahead of his attempt, Kipchoge revealed that in order to be one of the world’s greatest marathon runners, he sleeps for ten hours everyday. Eight of these hours are at night, then Kipchoge also has a two hour nap in the day, we’re guessing between morning and evening sessions.

The runner also revealed that he has never considered trying to break the half marathon world record, but that he might like to try it in the future in order to try running faster. When asked who his favourite competitor to race against has been, as humble as ever, Kipchoge replied that it was himself, “my favourite competitor is myself. I am racing against myself.”

When asked if there has ever been a time where he hasn’t loved running, Kipchoge answered, “not really, I have never hated running”. He also revealed that if he could do one race again it would be his first breaking 2 attempt in Monza, as he missed it by 26 seconds, however he said “I think it will come now”.

Were a big fan of the two hour nap.
