US runner Jordan Hasay, who is the second fastest American woman over the marathon distance, has announced she will now be coached by Paula Radcliffe. Hasay left the now disbanded Nike Oregon Project earlier in the year.

In a post on Instagram, Hasay wrote, “Be bold. Take risks. Trust your gut. Express gratitude. Believe in your power. Exceed expectations. Don’t take no for an answer. Be your best self. Don’t look back. Am excited and honored to have @paula_radcliffe Published: 20 November 2019.”

Nike ended it’s Oregon Project in October, following a number of allegations against leading coach Alberto Salazar, who has been banned for four years by the US Anti-Doping Agency.

28-year-old Hasay ran 2:20:57 in the 2017 Chicago Marathon, placing her behind Olympic medallist Deena Castor (2:19:36) in the fastest American women over the marathon. Paula Radcliffe’s 2:15:25 was the female marathon world record for over 16 years, before it was broken by Bridgid Kosgei in Chicago this year (2:14:04).

Hasay went on to write on Instagram, “I look forward to working with Paula, whose expertise in being the former world record holder in the marathon is unparalleled, and applying the lessons I’ve learned over the last decade to my training moving forward through the Olympic Trials marathon @usatf @atlantatrackclub and beyond. I have always looked up to Paula as a pioneer for what is possible in the marathon, and most importantly in being a kind and inspiring person in life. I hope to follow in her footsteps as I continue my journey in the sport.”
