Published: 13 March 2020 London Marathon has been postponed until Sunday 4 October, Kipchoge has shared a message of positivity to all the runners disappointed by the news.
The fastest marathon runner in the world took to Instagram to share a photo of himself crossing the line of the 2019 London Marathon. The caption read, "It is unfortunate news that the @londonmarathon has been postponed but I fully respect the decision made by the organization as safeguarding the health of the world always takes our top priority.
"To the thousands of runners who with me, have devoted the last months of our lives towards this goal I would like to say: Be proud of the work you have put into this journey, keep smiling and seek your next goal on the horizon to continue running in a smooth and positive way. Deo Kato is running from Cape Town to London."
Kipchoge was set to take on Ethiopia’s Kenenisa Bekele, who ran 2:01:41 at the Berlin marathon last autumn. It has not yet been confirmed whether both athletes will take to the streets of London at the postponed race this autumn.
