Why wait for race day, when you can set up your own? As shoe tech evolves, how a brand showcases it does too and ASICS have followed the trend of laying on a special race for its athletes and new product, in this case the METASPEED+.
Taking place in Malaga, the event saw over 70 elite ASICS athletes compete in the World Athletics certified META : Time : Trials.
Runners were challenged to beat their PBs over the 5km, 10km and half marathon race distances and in total an amazing four national records and 27 PBs were recorded by athletes. All records are pending ratification.
Eilish McColgan, was the winner in the mixed 5km in a time of 14:45, a new British national record (pending ratification) and PB by three seconds, Mo Katir narrowly missed a Spanish record winning the men’s 5km but ran a PB of 13:20, with Mohamed Reda el Aaraby winning the men’s half marathon with a PB time of 59:54 and Yeshi Kalayu was the winner of the mixed half marathon race in 1:07:30.
