Lace up your trail shoes and get ready to party – the the world’s first trail running and music festival, Love Trails, is back for 2024. This year, the four-day festival will take place from 11-14 July in the stunning Gower Peninsula in South Wales.

Here, runners of all abilities can enjoy the rugged Welsh coastline – a perfect natural playground for exploring the trails, beaches and coastline – before hitting the festival field for nightly live music entertainment.

There is plenty of adventure seeking to be had alongside the running, too, with coasteering, surfing, wild swimming, rock climbing and sea kayaking all on offer, along with wood-fired hot tubs and unlimited yoga.

Athlete talks

This year, Love Trails Festival will welcome a number of elite athletes who will be sharing their experiences during a range of live talks. International trail running sensations Lucy Barthlomew and Ryan Sandes are already confirmed for the event, along with England marathon runner Anya Culling and SheRACES founder and Team GB ultra runner Sophie Power.

There will also be sessions from coach, author and ultra runner Allie Bailey, social entrepreneur Mark White of Run Grateful and Simon James, international mountain leader and founder of Run the Wild.

At Love Trails, you can also learn about gear essentials, delve into the world of trail nutrition and hone your running skills with hands-on, expert-led workshops to help improve your technique.

Running wild

From scenic, beginner-friendly routes to challenging trails that will test even the most seasoned runners, there's a run for everyone at Love Trails.

In 2024, there will be a number of timed runs, with participants able to run, jog or hike a 5K, 10K or the Love Trails Festival 27km Golden Trail Race, which is being added to the Salomon Golden Trail Race Series. Runners can also opt to run the 52km Ultra-Trail Gower Peninsula, or the Multi-Day Trail Race, which covers approximately 79km over two days.

There are also several new multi-discipline runs, which combine running with other unique experiences. In addition, you can ack up some mindful miles with a guided meditative run, join an immersive guided trail run with movement puzzles or take part in a wild swim.

Music maestros

Once again, the Midnight Runners will bring people together as they kick start the party with their iconic 5K bootcamp run. Think boomboxes, beats and burpees to get you pumped ahead of a stellar music line-up.

At night, runners can enjoy non-competitive night runs, star gazing and night walks, before heading to one of three stages where a selection of DJs and live acts will perform, including dynamic dance duo JOY (Anonymous) and pop folk band Stornoway.

The festival will also feature rising stars AMA, Welsh reggae singer Aleighcia Scott and BBC Radio 2 Folk Singer of the Year, Ríoghnach Connolly and Honeyfeet. The eclectic line-up continues with the infectious beats of Gonora Sounds, Riot Jazz Brass Band and DJ Theo Kottis.
