• Clif Bar is replacing the climber on six popular flavors with six female athletes—Katerina Nash, Venus Williams, Megan Rapinoe, Ashima Shiraishi, Jordyn Barratt, and Lakey Peterson.
  • The packaging change celebrates the accomplishments of these world champions, Olympians, and Olympic hopefuls, who represent six different sports.
  • The limited-edition wrappers can be found starting March 10, and will be available through the year while supplies last.

For the first time ever, the packaging on your favourite Clif Bar flavours is getting a makeover. The brand is replacing the classic image of the climber with images of trailblazing female athletes on the wrappers of the six most popular flavours.

Starting 10 March 10, you can find cyclist Katerina Nash featured on the peanut butter banana with dark chocolate flavour, tennis player Venus Williams on crunchy peanut butter, soccer player Megan Rapinoe on chocolate chip, rock climber Ashima Shiraishi on chocolate brownie, skateboarder Jordyn Barratt on cool mint chocolate, and surfer Lakey Peterson on white chocolate macadamia nut.

These Clif-sponsored athletes, who represent a wide range of sports, are world champions, Olympians, and Olympic hopefuls who “lead with integrity in their communities.” This Clif Bar packaging update “celebrates the incredible athletes who require sustained energy to push boundaries and go farther in their discipline,” according to a Clif press release.

“While I’ve never been a professional athlete myself, I’m inspired by those at the pinnacle of their sport, and we hope by featuring these six women on our new packaging that we can continue to inspire athletes at all levels,” Clif Bar & Company founder and co-CEO Gary Erickson said in the press release.

“It feels very surreal to see myself on a Clif Bar, and it’s a huge honor to be featured alongside these other super women athletes. I’m so happy to be part of this historic moment for Clif Bar, especially since I take bars with me every day when I’m cycling in remote places so I have the energy to get where I need to go,” Nash said in a press statement provided to Bicycling. “I hope the younger generation is inspired to try all of these different sports. I set out to be a ski racer as a young person, and the journey to get where I am today has been so amazing.”
