The Nike Daybreak Type takes part of the Nike’s Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) collection releasing in October.

The Daybreak Type takes inspiration from Día de Muertos, a Mexican tradition that celebrates life and death while honoring family and beloved ones. Inspired by the traditional ofrenda placed in homes every year during the Día de Muertos celebration, it remixes heritage with a modern approach grounded on art and culture. It takes color and material inspiration from Mexican ofrendas: altars used to welcome the dead home during Día de Muertos celebrations. Bright colors and open-mesh lace in the upper mirror the lace and bright decorations commonly seen on traditional ofrendas.
