The end of the year marks Ekiden season, highlighted by thousands of high school, university and pro teams competing in international road-racing relays. The country’s most-watched annual Joggers event starts in October and lasts through the new year. Ekidens are popular in Japan and have since become widespread worldwide.

Paying tribute to the event, Nike designed another special edition Air ZoomX AlphaFly NEXT% for the occasion. The runner comes dressed in an Amarillo, Magma Orange, Healing Orange, and Black color scheme. It also features callouts to the event on the insoles and heel pull tabs.
