In April 2022, Nike and RTFKT introduced the Dunk Genesis as an NFT, and now, they’re enabling token owners to acquire up to five physical pairs of these sneakers. RTFKT, recently acquired by Nike in late 2021, gained fame for its original digital sneaker creations. They’ve scheduled a “forging event” for the Dunk Genesis from October 18th to October 30th. During this period, NFT holders can secure up to five sneakers across three different color schemes. Each owner can buy one Dunk Genesis “OG” and two pairs each of the Dunk Genesis “Void” and Dunk Genesis “Clone X.” Remarkably, the tokens won’t be destroyed after redemption; they will remain in the owner’s wallet.

Production of each sneaker is on-demand, with shipping slated to commence in June 2024. Although the precise designs of the three sneakers are yet to be unveiled, RTFKT teased a prototype on Instagram in August. While retaining the fundamental Dunk Low silhouette, the Dunk Genesis boasts a fresh, chunky sole unit and other touches that underscore its technological roots.

While the opportunity to mint Dunk Genesis NFTs has expired, individuals eager to acquire the physical sneakers can still obtain the necessary tokens on the OpenSea marketplace. Presently, the most affordable token available is priced at 0.125 ETH, approximately $206. Alternatively, you can purchase an RTFKT MNLTH, open it, and gain access to the Dunk Genesis NFT. However, this route is pricier, with the cheapest listing at 0.3 ETH, roughly $494.
