Nicole McLaughlin, a creative upcycling enthusiast and avid collaborator, has joined forces with Hoka, renowned for its outdoor gear. Their exciting partnership unveils McLaughlin’s unique rendition of the Mafate Three2, an innovative hybrid shoe designed for both trails and roads.

McLaughlin, recognized for her practical design approach, introduces a versatile hook-and-loop gaiter system to the sneaker. This clever feature offers four distinct wearing options: over the foot, around the ankle, or a combination for full protection. The gaiter also boasts five convenient pockets and carries a range of co-branded hangtags.

Nicole McLaughlin shared her enthusiasm, stating, “Collaborating with Hoka allowed me to explore Supersonic design, and the Mafate Three2 hybrid provided the perfect canvas for my modular gaiter attachment. I had the privilege of closely working with their design team, resulting in a blend of Hoka’s performance aesthetics with my playful design flair.”

The shoe’s base design predominantly showcases Hoka’s features, with McLaughlin’s branding subtly incorporated on the left insole. The model stands out with a striking color combination of red, highlighter yellow, black, and silver. It combines the Mafate 3’s upper and the Mafate 2’s sole unit, featuring a quick-lace system, EVA foam midsole, and a Vibram Megagrip outsole.
