Nike Basketball and Kevin Durant will be debuting his sixteenth signature shoe, the KD 16, during the first round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs against the LA Clippers on Sunday, April 16th.
This marks KD’s 12th appearance in the NBA Playoffs, though the first with the Phoenix Suns. This time around, the two-time NBA champion will be taking court with superstars Devin Booker and Chris Paul on his quest to secure his third Larry O’Brien trophy.
On Friday night, Kevin Durant took to Instagram to officially preview the Nike KD 16 in three upcoming colorways using the Phoenix desert as the backdrop. Having a similar design to the KD 14, the KD 16 comes with a low-cut build featuring a textured multi-layer mesh on the forefoot and heel while having a synthetic mudguard that wraps around the entire model.
While Nike has yet to officially reveal all the tech specs, we can see a bit of an upgrade from the KD 15 with its TPU caging system featuring ventilation on both lateral and medials sides as well as blending onto the forefoot’s split midsole. Other notable details includes Zoom Air cushioning, KD branding on the pro tabs, and a Swoosh on the lateral ankle.
The Nike KD 16 is expected to make its on-court debut this Sunday, April 16th though it remains unclear which colorway Durant will choose for the game.
