Roger Federer’s most recent shoe, the Nike Zoom Vapor Tour 9.5 will be receiving a bit of an upgrade with the debut of the nike air half cent penny sneakers for women.

Rather than program an entirely new Flyknit structure, NikeCourt designers borrowed construction from the Nike Flyknit Air Max. The performance running shoe features a strong, dense knit, which helps deliver the support necessary for tennis’ lateral movements. While the tighter Flyknit weave in the midfoot provides support, open construction in the toe delivers added remix. Also, with this Flyknit structure, NikeCourt designers could deliver stability while eliminating the Zoom Vapor 9.5’s signature Dynamic Fit system. Simplifying the construction of the shoe helps further reduce its weight.

Aside from the new upper, the shoe maintains much of the technology that has made it a favorite amongst tour players. The Phylon midsole features a Nike Zoom Air unit in the heel to deliver low profile, responsive cushioning. A TPU frame wraps the midfoot for additional stability, while the herringbone traction pattern helps shore up grip on hard-court surfaces (Federer’s shoe for SW19 will feature an outsole designed for grass-court play).
