Nowadays everyone has a cellphone. And on those cellphones are apps. Damn near every other day those apps are updated. For those of you who are old enough to remember when Facebook first came about, imagine if Facebook never updated and we were still using the original version. You either can’t, OR, you simply don’t want to imagine a world with an emoji-less Facebook that allows you to conveniently edit the rojas words in the carefully crafted response you left underneath someone’s comment or status. CHAOS. Hell, people get upset when they see everyone else on their friend’s list enjoying new features that hasn’t yet updated on their version of Facebook. (Remember when they introduced going “live” for the first time? People lost their minds…).
In fact, imagine if nothing ever updated. King Kong would still be this deformed-looking Claymation monster attacking New York for the umpteenth time because they refused to update his action scenes with CGI. People would be getting speeding tickets for going over 40mph in their Model T’s. Rappers would be still wearing skin tight jeans like they did in the mid-80s… Oh, wait. Well, you get the point with the first two examples. Having said all of this, why shouldn’t sneakers update as well? Saucony took the time to ask themselves that same question and came up with an answer.
On Friday, December 16th, Saucony will introduce an updated version of their classic Shadow 5000 silhouette. In their efforts to keep up with the needs and desires of you, the consumer, Saucony Originals created this evolved version of the Shadow 5000; minimizing the amount of panels on the upper, thus creating a slimmer runner that is still rooted to its heritage. First released in the 1980’s, Saucony’s focus was, and still is, cutting edge performance. None of that was lost of this sleeker, more refined version, dubbed the “Shadow 500 Mod”.
The Shadow 5000 Mod was created with an all new make up of existing materials. Saucony incorporated a triple layer mesh upper with a 3M underlay. (Everyone knows that if you add 3M to a shoe, it automatically makes that shoe look better). Also, the enclosed Ghillie lacing system provides a lock down fit for those of you who will actually use these shoes for their intended purpose. (Not that rocking them casually would be wrong, but you never know when you might have to run from something). To top it all off, hits of Wolverine Silkee suede are on both the toe box and the heel counter. #DOPE.
The Saucony Originals Select “Shadow 5000 Mod” WILL be a limited release sold exclusively on Saucony.com this Friday, December 16th, at 12pm EST, with a US size run of Men’s sizes 5-14. But don’t worry, if you wear anything above a men’s size 14, you can still live vicariously through your friends who have smaller sized feet. #Shadow5KMod #BigFeetNeedLoveToo
