Spike Lee aka Mars Blackmon was the OG when it comes to hyping up Air Jordans. The fictional character made its debut in the film, She’s Gotta Have It (1986), played by writer/director Spike Lee. In the film, he is a “Brooklyn-loving” fan of the New York Knicks, sports and Air Jordans. This led to late 1980s and early 1990s appearances in Nike Air Jordan commercials alongside Jordan and Mars becoming well known for his use of the alte, “It’s gotta be da shoes.”
Today, Spike Lee revealed that he has an upcoming Air Jordan Quickstrike set to release this Friday, June 16th. The photo he shared detailed his iconic Mars Blackmon logo rocking the classic “Brooklyn” bicycle hat.
No official word on which Air Jordan model this release will be, but the teaser image shows a Navy leather colorway.
