EditorialTHE REFINED ALLURE OF MFPEN
8 April 2024The latest from Sigurd Bank’s mfpen represents the refined, alluring nature of the brand.
When it comes to Scandinavia, minimalism is a word often thrown around to describe its clothing exports. At initial glance, or to the unaware, it’s also a word that you may be inclined to use in conjunction with the region’s very own mfpen. However, to describe its clothing as merely minimalist would be reductive to the idiosyncrasy of mfpen, where the tropes of refinement and minimalism are elevated and altered into something that‘s effortless and familiar, while also being unique and progressive.
Since being founded in 2015 by Sigurd Bank, mfpen has steadily gained a cult following for its meticulously designed, inherently wearable clothing. The label uses deadstock fabrics to create elevated takes on menswear classics, seamlessly becoming wardrobe staples while also delivering an alluring sense of intrigue through materials, details and shapes far beyond the everyday.
That design mantra is something that’s woven throughout the brand’s SS24 collection, with clothing that strikes the perfect harmony between classic and contemporary. Take the Installation coat, for instance, which is cut from recycled nylon ripstop to a relaxed fit, or the Classic Trousers, which are cut from deadstock Italian herringbone to a wide, straight-legged fit.
