Acronym AW21: A Continuation Of Technical Innovation

Acronym continues its envelope-pushing design approach for AW21, utilising an array of technical fabrics and utilitarian details.

When you think of Acronym — the label founded by Errolson Hugh and Michaela Sachenbacher — you think of technical innovation. It’s been that way since day one, ever since Acronym was founded as an independent design agency in 1994 with a clear focus: to push the boundaries of garment function.

It wasn’t until 2002 that the label began producing its own products, though — prior to this it provided consultation to larger companies — and soon the Acronym name became synonymous with techwear.

This steadfast focus on cutting-edge fabrics and functional details underpins everything the label does, and AW21’s collection is no exception to that. The label’s futuristic, yet also understated, aesthetic is fused with an array of highly-technical materials — there’s the J16-GT jacket, for instance, which is constructed using a GORE-TEX PRO shell to make it extremely durable, waterproof and highly breathable. Or there’s the use of schoeller® Dryskin™, which is a double-woven fabric designed to be quick drying, weather repellent and breathable.

The details, as always with Acronym, are equally as function driven — pockets are in their plenty and placed ergonomically, making carrying all of those city essentials a breeze, while rear slings on jackets mean they can be worn over the shoulder when the weather improves.
