UrlfreezeShops travels to Seoul to document the best sneaker style from the Seoul Fashion Week AW19
The fourth largest metropolitan economy in the world - far outsizing western fashion hubs London and Paris - Seoul is home to almost half of South Korea's total population. This dense populous - and a fluidity of influence flowing from east to west and back again - has given rise to a pervasive sense of self-expression and individuality for the city's inhabitants, resulting in some of the most highly documented and diverse street style in the world.
Stepping up to the plate in the sneaker stakes, Seoulites' footwear rotation centred around chunky dad-sneaks, retro reissues, and high-profile collaborations.
Balenciaga's new Trail Runner and Maison Margiela's Fusion Low Sneaker set the luxury sneaker agenda, combining with the Seoulites unmatched street style prowess to deliver signature ways to wear the divisive styles.
On the tactical side of things, a range of Errolson Hugh's latest sneaker work with Acronym in collaboration with Nike stepped out, with multiple colourways of the recent Air Presto Mid making their way up the ramps of the Dongdaemun Design Plaza and into the presentations. Colourways from Nike's collaboration with A-COLD-WALL* also made appearances alongside key silhouettes from Nike's developing ISPA initiative.
Other noteworthy sneaker appearances included colourways from Virgil's iconic 'The Ten', including the recent Air Max 90 reissue which marked the end of the collaboration which has shaped a generation of sneakerheads.
