19 August 2023Teaming up with Union LA & Bephies Beauty Supply, Air Jordan transform the Air Jordan 1 and the Elevate Hi with unconventional woven panelling.
Whenever Air Jordan and Union join forces, the two use their collaborations as vehicles for storytelling, delving into a rich tapestry of subjects and culture. This time around, Chris Gibbs looks close to home for inspiration, bringing in his wife, Beth Birkett Gibbs, and her collective Bephies Beauty Supply on board.
The collection is designed to take us back to the “Summer of ‘96”, a time where streetwear was burgeoning, hip-hop was on the fringes of global fanfare and also a time where Beth Birkett and Chris Gibbs first met. The capsule is inspired by a mixture of old-school and contemporary, manifesting in a duo of Air Jordan 1s. The result is a duo of Air Jordan 1s reflective of that — both a regular Hi version and a platformed, Elevate Hi — which feature woven detailing throughout the uppers.
