ASICS' celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Shigeyuki Mitsui-designed GEL Lyte III this year, and it brings both Japanese retailer atmos and vintage store owner Sean Wotherspoon on board to help with the festivities. The two most important features remain – the split tongue and GEL cushioned sole – but everything else is entirely reworked. The usual lightweight, performance-focused mesh and synthetic suede uppers are switched out for typical-of-Wotherspoon corduroy that’s drastically different on both the left and right shoe, going from blue and orange on the right to purple and green on the left. There’s an rosa of customisability, too, with detachable sidewall branding – a number of extra colours are included in the box – and patches that commemorate both outside partners.
