"The PARIS shoe is an elusive one, the only modern-day re-issue I remember which was incredibly limited, I know for some it has been the missing piece in their collection for a long time. Originally created as a training shoe, The fact that the model is lo-profile and sleek somehow speaks to the Parisian stereotypes of enduring style and elegance. As a rule, we are very selective in when we do new colours on some of these classic models, on this occasion however we felt it made absolute sense as we were excited to explore a different side of Paris and its symbiotic relationship with a traditional fashion world through clean colours and luxury materials."
Dan Reynolds, adidas Product Manager
Originally released as a part of adidas’ sought-after City Series in the 1970s, the Paris has been reinvented for the modern day to reflect the French capital’s rich history in fashion.
Channelling Paris’ chic sensibility, the sneaker was set to be delivered in time for fashion week. In lieu of the fashion calendar’s most prestigious event going ahead as planned, adidas instead embody the spirit of the city in this sleek take on a highly lauded retro silhouette. Constructed with smooth white leather, plush suede overlays and the German sportswear stalwart’s signature gold foil print to the sidewall, the model encapsulates the elegance, sophistication and style associated with the City of Love; and its unchallenged tenure as the global epicentre of fashion and style.
Limited to 500 pairs and individually numbered to the heel, the adidas Paris UrlfreezeShops Exclusive is here showcased in a look book that reflects the city’s unique personality. Inspired by the 1967 Jacques Tati film Playtime, which offered a modernist interpretation of Paris, the look book combines glass and concrete to reflect the rapidly changing nature of the city itself. Capturing the confluence of classicism and the inherently progressive nature of the city’s relationship with the ephemeral world of fashion, the Paris is finished – as always - with adidas’ signature three stripes.
