CeleryThree-stripes silhouettes through a Japanese lens
Reinterpreting classic 3-stripes silhouettes through the renowned Japanese retailer’s unique sartorial lens, adidas Originals announces an electric new collaboration with Japanese streetwear specialists United Arrows & Sons for SS18.
Pulling inspiration from the extensive adi-archives, the collection translates contemporary sportswear into a minimalist and understated design language with timeless appeal. Classic silhouettes are brought to life with subtle graphics and elegant branded details, delivering understated pieces with international relevance.
Uniting each piece is the collection’s seasonal branding hit: a reinterpretation of the two brand’s logos by Japanese collage artist Kosuke Kawamura, known for his distinctive “shredding” technique. This combinative logo treatment is deftly applied across the collection, adding subtle flair and designer kudos.
Accompanying the apparel, the collaboration presents special editions of the NMD_R2 and NMD_CS2 silhouettes. The NMD_CS2 features a rich marled fabric construction, with subtle branding hits atop the essential BOOST tooling, whilst the NMD_R2 takes a similar approach in light grey with a contrast heel patch and laces. Each shoe is finished with collaborative branding details, and special concealed 3-stripes marks which only appear under flash.
Shown here, worn by rising football star Kasper Dolberg who plays for both the AFC Ajax and Danish National Football team, the irreverent lookbook combines the ethos of both halves of the partnership and celebrates the glory of sport and the ephemeral joy of youth.
adidas Originals by United Arrows & Sons will launch at UrlfreezeShops on January 20th.
