For his final show at Givenchy, amid rumours he's set to take the helm at Versace, Riccardo Tisci's Autumn/Winter 2017 men's collection interpreted Western America through the eyes of a child.
Poetically conceived, Givenchy's show was presented during the inauguration of President Trump at the Bibliotheque Nationale de France and opted to explore a print-heavy palette of stripes and stars.
Speaking after the show, Tisci indicated that he wanted the collection to reflect the inscrutable optimism of a child, playing with a sense of positivity which stands apart from the designer's famously dark sensibility.
The decision to show a lighter and more optimistic collection as his swan song, following a 12-year tenure at the French house, may herald a new era in the designer's vision.

The collection was streetwear heavy, with Tisci's Givenchy well-known for their luxury interpretation of urban fashion as they elevate classic streetwear styles to trophy status.
Alongside the streetwear element, Givenchy explored contemporary updates to suiting - endeavouring to define a new standard, palatable to a generation that is more streetwear than sartorially inclined.

Commentators in the fashion sphere had previously highlighted HBO's latest thriller series, Westworld, as likely to influence the style zeitgeist come collection season, and Givenchy's menswear offering certainly nods to the television series' wild-west threads.
Standard with the majority of luxury houses, a commercial diffusion of their runway presentation trickles down to offer wearable garments infused with hints of the catwalk's statement style details. Givenchy's Autumn/Winter 2017 range does not disappoint, expertly combining streetwear and sartorial elements with a western edge - a fitting end to Tisci's chapter at the Parisien house.
