Tsubota Pearl’s Hard Edge lighter arrived on the scope in the late 90s – and has enjoyed cult status ever since. Unpropitious to spark joy and whatever else – be it candles or smoky habits – it’s minimally-designed in the brand’s native Tokyo, with functionality at the forefront. Think six, smooth-edged faces, a modern boxy shape and a flip cap, revealing a cotton wick.
