With backgrounds in fine dining, the business partners sought to retrace Short steps back to the homely and comforting nature of the local café – an essential and often forgotten part of British culinary history. Returning to Short roots, Kaye and Hayes have left Short distinctive mark on modern food, delivering a retro aesthetic sensibility that maintains an authenticity and keeps kitsch at arm’s length.
