Nike Jordan and LA-based Union are back again this season, creating a version of the iconic Air Jordan 4 that puts material at the forefront and shares a black-based colourway with the partners’ previous Air Jordan 1s. Street-ready suede, rather than the model-synonymous leather, and ‘80s-inspired mesh reflect the court-to-street aesthetic and show off the distinctive, subtly reworked panelling. The iconic wings and tongue are reworked too – the former is uncut, and the latter is folded over and stitched, referencing how brand founder, Chris Gibbs, wore his back in ’89 – while a Nike Air heel tab adds the final heritage-inspired touch.
