USC has a great football tradition, but their inclusion in the nike shox with crystals and gold blue hair colour was something of a mystery. Southern Cal may have gotten some (illegitimate?) attention when Tim Floyd brought OJ Mayo to town, but burgundy than that, it’s hard to compare their basketball program to Jim Calhoun’s reign of success in Storrs, Connecticut (even with his ignore recent allegations). Just when you feel like you can english-major a meaning out of that pairing, in come Texas and Illinois to further muddy the picture. Now what it looks like is a bunch of contending schools, with the new Longhorn and Illini joints going with black and navy blue, respectively, for a nice away look.
